Heat pumps · Barrie & Simcoe County
Heat pumps, sized to your home.
Heat pump installation sized from a room-by-room heat-loss calculation, with backup heat planned for the coldest days and the whole system commissioned and documented. Designed and installed by the same crew.
How they work
Moving heat instead of making it
A heat pump doesn’t burn fuel to make heat. It moves heat that’s already outside into your home, using electricity to do it.
Sized to the heat loss
Capacity is matched to a room-by-room heat-loss calculation on your home, the same way we size every heating system, not to the old equipment’s label.
Planned for an Ontario winter
An air-source heat pump has less capacity on the coldest days, so the design plans how the coldest days are covered before anything is installed.
Commissioned & documented
Settings proven, controls set, and the paperwork left in your file, with a walkthrough of how it all works.
What we look at
Before a heat pump goes in
Everything that decides the right heat pump, checked and written down first.
Rebates have rules: Ontario’s Home Renovation Savings program requires pre-approval before installation and an eligible model. Our heat pump rebate guide covers what applies today.
How a project runs
From first visit to a commissioned system
-
Step one
Site visit
We walk your home, look at how it’s heated now, and talk through what you want the new system to do.
-
Step two
Heat loss & sizing
A room-by-room heat-loss calculation to the CSA F280-12 methodology, then the heat pump and backup heat sized to that number.
-
Step three
Installation
Equipment installed to the design, with clean, serviceable work and the plumbing scope under the same contract where there is one.
-
Step four
Commissioned & documented
Settings proven, controls set, the paperwork in your file, and a walkthrough of how it all works before we leave.

Heat pump questions
How do you size a heat pump?
From a room-by-room heat-loss calculation on your home, to the CSA F280-12 methodology, at your municipality’s design temperature. It’s the same first step we take for every heating system.
Will a heat pump keep my home warm in an Ontario winter?
It can, when it’s designed for it. An air-source heat pump has less capacity on the coldest days, so the design works out how much heat your home needs then and how that’s covered, including any backup heat.
Do I still need a backup heat source?
Often, yes, depending on the heat pump and your home. Natural Resources Canada recommends considering a supplementary heat source with air-source heat pumps. The heat-loss calculation tells us how much you’d want.
Are there rebates for heat pumps in Ontario?
Yes. Ontario’s Home Renovation Savings program has heat pump rebates, with pre-approval required before installation and the exact model on a qualified list. Programs change, so check our guide and confirm the details before you buy.
Can you install a heat pump in an existing home?
Yes. We start with a site walk and a heat-loss calculation on the home as it is today, then size the equipment and plan how it works with what’s already there.
